Intel gives kudos to 54 top suppliers

March 27, 2007 – Intel has given a nod to more than four dozen suppliers — a new record number of recognitions — from its roster of thousands of supply-chain partners, ranging from capital equipment manufacturers to materials, components, and service providers.

To earn Intel’s top award, its supplier continuous quality improvement (SCQI) award (now in its 20th year), 12 honorees scored at least 95% on a list of performance and ability goals over the past year, including cost, quality, availability, delivery, technology, and responsiveness. Another 44 suppliers scored better than 80% to earn Intel’s 2006 preferred quality supplier (PQS) recognition.

The SCQI winners “have demonstrated the commitment, innovation and results that set them apart from the rest of the industry,” stated Bob Baker, SVP and GM of Intel’s technology and manufacturing group, in a statement. “We congratulate them for their outstanding accomplishments and their focus on world-class performance.”

“The Preferred Quality Supplier award winners have an excellent and ongoing focus on technology innovation, manufacturing support and customer satisfaction,” added Bob Bruck, VP in the technology and manufacturing group, and Intel GM of technology manufacturing and engineering. “The suppliers we’re recognizing today are role models for our industry, achieve higher levels of performance than their peers and are key to Intel’s delivery of new products to our customers worldwide.”

Intel launched the SCQI program in 1987 to improve the systems and output of key suppliers, in an effort to minimize the amount of time and money spent inspecting incoming material, goods, and services purchased. The company honored 38 suppliers in 2005, 43 in 2004, and 45 companies in 2003.
