Town of East Hartford Partners with Ameresco for LED Street Lights and Exterior Lighting ESPC Project to Improve Energy Efficiency and Enhance Public Safety

Ameresco issued the following news release: Ameresco, Inc., (NYSE:AMRC), a leading energy efficiency and renewable energy company, announced today that it is working with the Town of East Hartford to develop and implement an LED street light and exterior lighting upgrade project at select locations. Under a $2 million Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC) including more than $480,000 in incentives, new street lights are being installed throughout town, and the Public Safety Complex, Community Cultural Center, Town Hall Offices, Terry Pool Park, Town Green Alumni Park and Firehouse #5 will benefit from exterior lighting upgrades resulting in more than 1.6 million kWh in annual electric savings. Further leveraging the resulting energy savings, East Hartford has engaged Ameresco for the duration of the contract to provide on-going maintenance of the new LED fixtures in the case of outages, repair, or damage ensuring the benefits will continue for East Hartford. "East Hartford is working with Ameresco to develop and implement an energy efficiency project that we are confident will benefit our entire community," said Mayor Marcia Leclerc. "The budget savings generated under the ESPC has allowed us to secure much needed capital improvements, and our project will be paid completely by the savings--resulting in no net cost increase to the Town budget or East Hartford taxpayers."

EPA Applauds Work of Bennington College Students to Help Community Increase Energy Efficiency, Battle Climate Change

The Environmental Protection Agency issued the following news release: EPA has released a short video that applauds the voluntary efforts of a professor and students at Bennington College to help their local community combat climate issues by analyzing energy use of municipal streetlights and working with the local power utility to dramatically increase efficiency, saving the town thousands of dollars and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. In 2012, EPA's New England office began an informal partnership with Bennington College to work with students in a class called "Solving the Impossible." The class, taught by Professor Susan Sgorbati, charges students to study difficult policy problems and develop the skills to identify and implement solutions. EPA helped Professor Sgorbati by identifying environmental public policy problems for the students to address. One recent class tackled the issue of climate change.

LG's 4K ULTRA HD TVs with quantum dot technology will offer a wider color palette and improved color saturation than conventional LCD TVs and will be available in 2015 to complement LG's other ULTRA HD TV and OLED TV offerings.
