SIA says chip sales hit $14.7B in December

The December sales figure marks a 3.3% increase over November and a 30.0% hike over December, 1998, said the SIA. Sales for the year totaled $149 billion, up 18.9% from last year.

Just one week after a federal grand jury indicted McDowell & Co., San Carlos, CA, for allegedly stealing confidential blueprints from Applied Materials, the equipment giant said it settled its civil suit with the parts supplier.
