Radiant Opto-Electronics to build LCD TV back-light module plant

November 22, 2004 – Taiwan’s Radiant Opto-Electronics Corp. will soon move to build a new LCD TV back-light module plant in Southern Taiwan Science Park at a total cost of NT$500 million (US$15.24 million). The new plant is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2005, according to the China Economic News Serivce.

A senior official of Radiant Opto-Electronics said that his company’s revenue is expected to hit NT$14 billion (US$426.83 million) this year.

As market demand for LCD TV back-light modules has risen significantly in the fourth quarter, the company’s monthly shipment of 32- and 37-inch modules has grown to over 60,000 units from about 30,000 several months ago.

Radiant Opto-Electronics has been accelerating deploying its production bases and strengthening R&D capability in recent years. In addition to a plant in southern Taiwan’s Kaohsiung, the company has set up two facilities in mainland China, including one each in Nanjing and Wujiang, Jiangsu Province
